SOLAR PANELS · KENT
Solar panels installed
by engineers, not
salespeople.
A solar system designed around your home, energy use and future plans, with straightforward advice from a local Kent team and no hard sell.
What are solar panels and how do they work?
Solar panels turn daylight into electricity that can be used in your home. The electricity they generate can reduce how much power you need to buy from the grid, while a compatible inverter manages the energy produced and can allow battery storage to be added where appropriate.
Solec designs solar systems around the property, roof and household energy use rather than starting with a fixed number of panels.
Why consider solar panels
for your Kent home?
A correctly designed solar PV system allows you to generate your own electricity during daylight hours, reducing how much you need to buy from the grid.
How much you can generate and save depends on factors including your roof, system size, electricity consumption and when you use energy. We assess these before recommending a system.
Engineer-led advice
Your system is assessed and designed by an experienced engineer, rather than being based on a standard sales package.
Premium all-black panels
We use high-quality all-black solar panels to provide a clean, discreet finish on the roof, backed by long-term manufacturer warranties.
Battery-ready from day one
We can design your system so compatible battery storage can be added later without having to start again with the core solar setup.
Honest sizing
We recommend a system based on your property, energy use and budget, rather than simply trying to sell you the biggest system possible.
Frequently Asked
Questions
View AllHow much could I save with solar panels?
The amount varies depending on your system, electricity use, when you use energy and whether you add battery storage. We'll explain the likely performance and potential savings based on your property rather than giving you a generic figure.
Will solar panels work on my roof?
Solar can work well on a range of roof orientations, including south, east and west-facing roofs. The right system depends on the roof, available space, shading and how the panels can be designed around the property. We'll assess this as part of the initial design.
Can I add a battery later?
Yes. Our standard solar specification uses a hybrid inverter, making it possible to add compatible battery storage later without replacing the inverter. We'll also discuss battery storage during the design stage so you can decide whether adding it now or later makes more sense for you.
Is my property suitable
for solar panels?
Many Kent homes are suitable for solar PV. Roof orientation, pitch, available space and shading all affect how well a system is likely to perform.
South-facing roofs are excellent, but east and west-facing roofs can also work well. We assess your roof’s dimensions, orientation and potential shading before recommending a system.
Could be right for you if:
- Your electricity bills are rising and you want greater control over them
- Your roof receives good daylight
- You want to reduce your reliance on grid electricity
- You’re considering an EV or heat pump and expect your electricity use to increase
- You want the option of adding battery storage

What does the solar

questions, answered
How much could I save with solar panels?
The amount varies depending on your system, electricity use, when you use energy and whether you add battery storage. We'll explain the likely performance and potential savings based on your property rather than giving you a generic figure.
Do I need planning permission for solar panels?
Most domestic rooftop solar installations in England can be installed under permitted development rights, subject to certain conditions. Listed buildings, conservation areas and some properties can require additional consideration. We'll identify anything that needs checking as part of the assessment.
How long does solar panel installation take?
Most straightforward domestic solar installations can be completed in around one to two days on site, although the exact time depends on the property, roof access and system. Scaffolding and other work may take place separately around the installation.
Will solar panels work on my roof?
Solar can work well on a range of roof orientations, including south, east and west-facing roofs. The right system depends on the roof, available space, shading and how the panels can be designed around the property. We'll assess this as part of the initial design.
What warranty do I get?
Our standard solar panels have a 25-year product warranty and 30-year performance warranty. We'll explain the applicable equipment and workmanship warranty cover in your proposal so you know exactly what's included before proceeding.
Can I add a battery later?
Yes. Our standard solar specification uses a hybrid inverter, making it possible to add compatible battery storage later without replacing the inverter. We'll also discuss battery storage during the design stage so you can decide whether adding it now or later makes more sense for you.
Will you try to sell me the biggest system possible?
No. Your solar survey and system recommendation are engineer-led, without a commissioned sales process. We recommend a system based on your roof, electricity use, future plans and budget. If a larger system doesn't make sense for your property, we won't recommend one.
