Is my commercial property
suitable for solar?
Many commercial buildings have the potential for solar, particularly where there is suitable roof space and electricity is being used throughout the working day. But every property and business is different.
Solec can assess the building, available roof area and energy use to determine whether solar is appropriate and what type of system should be considered.
Not every commercial roof is right for solar. If we don’t think the property or energy use makes a solar installation appropriate, we’ll explain why. The aim is to design a system around a genuine business requirement, not simply cover the available roof with as many panels as possible.
We’ll look at:
- Available roof space — the usable area and potential layout for the solar panels
- Roof orientation and shading — how the roof is positioned and anything that could significantly affect solar generation
- Roof type and condition — the existing roof construction and whether there are factors that need to be considered before installation
- Your electricity use — how much electricity the business uses and, importantly, when it’s being used
- Existing electrical installation — the building’s electrical setup and what needs to be considered for the proposed system
- Future requirements — any expected changes to the building or the way your business will use electricity
